How long should a clogged duct last? With the right care, most clear within 24–48 hours. If it's still there after two days, it's time to check in with a professional.

Should I massage it? Gentle hand expression toward the nipple is fine. Deep massage and heat can push bacteria deeper — the 2022 ABM guidelines advise against them.

Can I still feed on that side? Yes — continuing to feed is part of clearing the duct. Emptying the breast through treatment is how you get better.

When is it mastitis? A fever over 101°F, spreading redness, or flu-like symptoms point to mastitis. That's a call-your-doctor situation, not a wait-and-see one.
